Manish and Lisa wrap up our series on tea leaf reading, or tasseomancy, by focusing once again on tea. What type of tea is used? Should it be loose leaf, or can the leaves from tea bags be read as well? And what sorts of shapes and symbols present themselves, what do they mean? Amy Taylor joins us once again to reveal her art.

Amy’s favorite tea to use is South African Rooibos, or red bush tea, because of the small size of the leaf and the sweet, forgiving flavor of the brew. Check out her photo of these leaves spread out in the cup… what symbols do you see?

Manish describes to Katrina the very first chai blend that he offered at a small farmers’ market table in Tucson, Arizona. He still blends the same version today: Original Black Chai.

It’s cold season, and we’ve got a classic and delicious way to feel better right away: hot toddies! Manish and Lisa take you through the history of hot toddies, classic recipes, and tea-based versions of the drink. In the third segment, Manish reveals a Maya Tea Toddy, made with our own Original Herbal Chai.

Most hot toddies are made using plain, strong black tea. But for a fun twist to the traditional recipe, use a flavored tea like Orange black tea.
